Watercolor floral buttons

This is the second day of a low carb diet for me and aside from the sugar withdrawal headache I'm doing pretty well. The winter weight I've gained has got to come off. Only a few short weeks till spring and I really want to be able fit into my summer clothes. A low carb diet is the only thing that has worked for me as far as diets go because it fits my lifestyle. Many years ago I lost over 40 pounds on this diet. It has all come back as I've gotten older of course and I really don't care that much about the weight number anymore, I just want to be comfortable, healthy, and I want my clothes to fit. I move around enough in the warmer months that I'm able to keep those extra pounds at bay but the winter is a different story. I'm like a bear in hibernation. And I'm also addicted to sugar. I stuff my face with sweets in the dark cold months for both comfort and energy. On a low carb diet once I stop eating sugar the craving goes completely away and I can eat just about all the other foods I love and not have to worry too much about the fat.  I do cut down on fat substantially but it's not like some of the other low calorie diets I've been on where you have to cut out almost all of the fat. THAT just doesn't work for me!
It's chilly outside but I think a walk is in order....

one more time.....

Seems like all I ever talk about is the weather. And that's because around here it always seems to be the topic of conversation.

Norm and I are supposed to play golf in a tournement on Saturday. The fees have already been paid and of course they are not refundable. The weather forcast for Saturday is high winds, rain, and possible SNOW. Uhggggg! Not me, nooooooooo no no. I will be home in my nice warm house sittin by the fire.

Our weather in western Washington last 10 days or so has been really wet and very windy. So wet and windy in fact that a 70 foot tree from my friends front yard fell onto her house yesterday. She was home at the time and actually saw it start to fall and ran outside just in time. She is safe and her home is livable but there was quite a bit of damage to the structure.

Just a few more weeks to wait until spring gets here. I can't wait!

Happy Valentine's Day!

Small bead set available in my Etsy shop.

I have never cooked lobster before.
My husband suggested that maybe we deserve a special treat for Valentine's Day, so he proceeded to order a couple of lobsters for us from our local supermarket and asked me to pick them up today.
 I said "no problem".
After making my way to the supermarket meat department, I motioned to the butcher on duty to tell him I was there to pick up my husbands order. He disappeared through the double revolving doors into the cooler and returned seconds later with a large clear plastic bag containing two "whole" lobsters. Hmmm.....not what I was expecting...
Now just a few moments ago when I got home from the grocery store my husband, standing at the door when I started unloading the groceries, asked me if I had remembered the lobsters and so I held up the bag to show him.  Then asked me if they were alive. I looked down at the bag I was holding and realized they WERE ALIVE!!!! I shrieked and nearly dropped the bag. I don't know what I was thinking.
I will just have to resume my lobster cooking research on youtube.....
.....and the lobsters will have to sleep out in the shed tonight because I can't bear to look at them in the fridge.

Cobwebs and cathair, oh my....

Boy, February 1st already. Before you know it spring will be here. It's always a bit freaky this time of the year when the sun comes out after many dreary days and I look around my house at all the dirt I don't see when it's dark. I'm staring at the cobweb that stretches from the entertainment center to the windowsill a few feet away. The reason I can see it is because the sun is glinting off of it. I also spy all the cat hair on the arm of the leather sofa. Hmmmmm. Maybe I'll just go grab the feather duster real quick......... While I'm at it I better vacuum.....
